The 10 commercial projects
Each project takes two weeks: one week to build the base, one week to polish it into something worth showing.
| Project | Weeks | Name | Output | Commercial value |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Project 1 | Weeks 1–2 | Commercial Project 1: Local Business Starter Website | A 3-page website for a small local business with homepage, services and contact page. | This could be adapted for a cleaner, tutor, lawn mowing business, kids market stall, dog walking service or small trade business. |
| Project 2 | Weeks 3–4 | Commercial Project 2: One-Page Sales Landing Page | A polished landing page with hero section, benefits, offer, testimonials, FAQ and call-to-action. | This is the type of page a business could use for a special offer, lead magnet or simple campaign. |
| Project 3 | Weeks 5–6 | Commercial Project 3: Business Calculator Tool | A useful calculator with validation, result cards and explanatory content. | Calculators are commercially useful because they attract traffic, help customers self-educate and can generate leads. |
| Project 4 | Weeks 7–8 | Commercial Project 4: Quiz / Recommendation Tool | A quiz that scores answers and recommends an option. | Businesses use quizzes to recommend products, qualify customers and create interactive content. |
| Project 5 | Weeks 9–10 | Commercial Project 5: SEO Content Hub | A small SEO hub with pillar page, supporting pages, internal links, sitemap and robots.txt. | This is the basis of long-term SEO: useful content, structure and internal links. |
| Project 6 | Weeks 11–12 | Commercial Project 6: Product Comparison Page | A comparison page with a table, buyer guide, FAQs and schema. | Comparison pages are valuable for ecommerce, affiliate sites and service selection. |
| Project 7 | Weeks 13–14 | Commercial Project 7: Mini Lead Capture Website | A lead-generation website with enquiry form front-end, validation and thank-you page. | This mimics how businesses collect enquiries, quote requests and booking leads. |
| Project 8 | Weeks 15–16 | Commercial Project 8: Interactive Pricing Estimator | A pricing estimator with options, add-ons, totals and a polished proposal-style result. | This is directly useful for service businesses that need quick estimates before formal quotes. |
| Project 9 | Weeks 17–18 | Commercial Project 9: Performance + Trust Upgrade | A refined website with faster assets, stronger trust sections, accessibility improvements and launch checklist. | Commercial sites need to be fast, trustworthy, readable and usable on mobile. |
| Project 10 | Weeks 19–20 | Commercial Project 10: Final Portfolio-Ready Client Website | A complete mini website combining landing page, content, calculator, quiz, SEO, sitemap and QA. | This becomes her portfolio piece showing she can use ChatGPT and code to build something real. |
